B19 Media is an independent production company. It produces compelling and distinctive stories for international audiences, by embracing under-represented cast, crew and production teams – especially from Africa, the African diaspora and the Global South.
Our first feature film, FREESTYLE, was produced for BBC Films and Film London, released in UK cinemas and achieved international distribution. Written by the company’s co-founder, Michael Maynard and directed by Kolton Lee, FREESTYLE was the UK’s first romance set in the world of basketball. It marked the screen debut of its gifted star, Lucy Konadu and the award-winning actor, Arinzé Kene (THE PASS). Alfie Allen (GAME OF THRONES, HBO) and Ashley Thomas (BLACK CAKE, Hulu) had early screen roles.
To support new, emerging, Global South and LGBTQ+ writer/directors we have produced their shorts. They include: LONDON TOMORROW by Nimer Rashed, SWEETHEART by Jack Taylor Cox and ESCAPE by Michael Adeyeye.

In the complex and competitive international film and TV market, compelling stories struggle to attract finance and when films are made, the enormous hurdle of a cinematic release looms. We partner with international producers to close financing and distribute their projects.

After winning the prestigious Tides of Change Award at Doc Edge, the documentary feature film, FOOD DELIVERY: FRESH FROM THE WEST PHILIPPINE SEA struggled to secure a UK release. We came on board as the distributor and secured UK theatrical screenings in London, the Midlands the North and Scotland. We are collaborating with international producers on projects set in Africa, the Caribbean, France, the United States, Poland, Italy and Spain.
